Where to Start?
All of them had different IP Address where the identification number is being used uniquely I the internet. For example, IP address comes in this form: 100.100.0.100. What is the Ethernet Switch?
Take a quick at this example: In a hotel setting. The guest was asking at the front office for the towels so they can swim around the pool however the front office has run out of towels. The better solution that they can make is to tell the guest to wait for a moment and the initial reaction they would have is to call the attention of the laundry personnel thru a phone number using a 3-digit code. The one that the front office associate is using is the modem wherein it can connect to anywhere else, from room to room, administration and any computers. Big corporations are using this kind of modem or “Ethernet switch” so that it would be easier for them to relay a message one to another.
The main purpose of the modem is to receive the date from a DSL or a cable line that only computers can understand. Ethernet is being used in a private company to ensure the privacy of the company when it comes to intensive projects and codes so no one has to know. The only sites that can be opened by Ethernet are limited and must be company-related.
What is the Hub?
Compared to the Ethernet, Hub is exactly the total opposite for the reason that it can be used by other people especially in libraries and does not need any private codes. When a hub receives a packet of data, then the initial reaction of it is to transmit the packets from a PC on the other side of the network. There is a process called CSMA/CD or Ethernet Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection whereas each and every Ethernet adapter both has a transmitter and receiver to unite together in sending and receiving data. The operation usually goes one way at a time. The maximum bandwidth that a Hub could use is around 100 MHz.
